We catch up with newly appointed Associate Director, Mark Sainthill, about his new role and what’s in store for the industry this year.
Q1. You’ve joined Waypoint Partners as an Associate Director, what are you looking forward to about the role and what will you be getting involved in?
All aspects from the team, the clients and the work. There are a talented and passionate group at Waypoint Partners with significant experience in the industry and an impressive pool of clients, so I am very much looking forward to being part of the continued success and growth of both the clients and the business.
I will be working across both growth advisory and corporate finance, advising clients strategically and commercially and supporting them on all aspects of their journey. Also keeping clients up to speed on the market landscape, trends and key players to ensure they are well informed as they grow their businesses.
Q2. What inspires you to do the work you do?
I have always had a strong interest in the field of marketing since studying it at school and university, and then going on to work for marketing agencies and media owners after.
Furthermore business owners and managers in the creative and marketing industries are always interesting to work with, combined with such an evolving media and technology landscape, make consulting for these businesses fascinating. It is also gratifying to follow businesses as they grow and thrive, and ultimately see founders reaping the rewards of all their hard work and dedication.
Q3. You have worked in a variety of finance and commercial roles to date. How have these led you into advisory?
I have done a variety of roles across operations, commercial and finance for marketing and media organisations to date, but I realised I needed technical skills in financial management to open doors into an advisory role. Getting my accountancy qualification after university and building corporate finance experience have been invaluable to developing this.
Q4. Tell us a bit more about yourself
I have an entrepreneurial spirit, and in the past I started two small ventures in my spare time. One a British fast food concept called Hereford + York (creating the Yorkshire pudding wrap!) and also a monthly music night in various venues across west London. So I have a sense of the challenge for founders and managers and the pressure they are under when building a business.
